WaterISAC will host a free webinar on Wednesday, February 13 at 3 p.m. ET on the risk assessment and emergency response plan requirements under the America’s Water Infrastructure Act (AWIA).
Enacted last October, the act requires drinking water utilities to complete risk and resilience assessments (RRAs) and update their emergency response plans every five years.
Utilities serving more than 100,000 people must complete their RRAs and certify their completion to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) by March 31, 2020.
Medium-sized and smaller utilities must certify their completion by later dates.
David Travers and Dan Schmelling from EPA’s Water Security Division will discuss the requirements under the act and describe how EPA will implement them.
They will also address the certification process and describe the resources that EPA is developing to help utilities comply with the new requirements. Kevin Morley of the American Water Works Association will discuss AWWA standards, such as AWWA’s J100 risk assessment standard, and tools available to water utilities.
Webinar registration is open to all interested parties at: www.waterisac.org/events.
Please forward this invitation to your colleagues in the sector.
The webinar will be recorded and made available the following day along with the slide deck at waterisac.org/awia.
Please contact info@waterisac.org with any questions.
